Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Up Slightly
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 13,787 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 500 more than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
State residents also filed 53,497 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of Dec. 25-31, which was 4,816 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 2,258 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In November, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.2%. The national unemployment rate was 3.7%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in November was 61.3%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.1%.
