Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Down Slightly
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 13,449 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 591 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 61,734 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of Jan. 8-14, which was 1,012 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 3,381 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In November, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.2%. The national unemployment rate was 3.7%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in November was 61.3%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.1%.
