YMCA’s Athletic Performance Center Serves Athletes of All Levels
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The YMCA of Youngstown’s new Athletic Performance Center is helping athletes of all levels reach their potential.
Located at the Central YMCA downtown, the facility offers programs that incorporate six focus areas – speed, power, agility, flexibility, explosiveness and strength – for overall athletic development, increasing athletic performance and strengthening joints and muscles for injury reduction and prevention.
Programs for individual and team sports are led by nationally certified staff members. The facility features a registered and licensed dietitian who provides nutritional solutions to help improve physical performance.
Programs are offered for children age 6 and older and adults of all ages. Youth programs are developmentally appropriate.
“Our goal with the Athletic Performance Center at the Y is to help athletes in reaching the potential they are capable of,” says Meri Fetkovich, YMCA senior director of health and wellness. “No matter their goals or age, the APC has staff, resources and equipment to assist participants in realizing their full ability.”
YMCA membership benefits include program options and free classes in the Athletic Performance Center.
Programs are offered free for qualifying children, ages 6 to 18, through a Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Grant. Applications are available at the YMCA or online HERE.
