Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Continue to Rise
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 15,123 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 2,402 more than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 59,116 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of March 5-11, which was 1,742 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 3,526 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In January, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.0%. The national unemployment rate was 3.4%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in January was 61.2%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.4%.
