OhioMeansJobs Posts Fewer Job Listings
COLUMBUS, Ohio – OhioMeansJobs.com posted 173,223 job openings from March 14 to April 13 – down 26,465 from the previous reporting period and a decrease of 56,456 from the same period a year ago.
Registered nurses leads postings with 8,662. First-line supervisors of retail sales workers had the second most job ads with 7,732, with retail salespersons (5,847), first-line supervisors of food preparation and serving workers (3,486) and heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers (3,340) rounding out the top five.
Of the total posted jobs, 27.6% list an upper middle income salary range of $50,000 to $79,000. Middle income jobs ($30,000 to $49,000) comprise 29.2% of posted jobs. Entry level jobs (less than $30,000) make up 16.8% of postings, high-income jobs ($80,000 to $99,000) 10.4% and six-figure jobs 16%.
Most jobs posted (47.4%) require a high school diploma or GED; 33.4% require a bachelor’s degree; 12.5% require an associate degree; 2.8% require a master’s degree; and 3.9% require a doctoral degree.

The 18-county northeastern Ohio region, which includes Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, saw 56,756 jobs posted online from March 14 to April 13, which is down 7,824 ads from the previous reporting period and a decrease of 21,659 from the same period last year.
In northeastern Ohio, job postings for registered nurses led with 3,226. Rounding out the top five occupations were first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (2,976), retail salespersons (2,190), first-line supervisors of food preparation and serving workers (1,226) and stock clerks and order fillers (1,046).
