Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Jump
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 16,800 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 6,445 more than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 39,333 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of May 28-June 3, which was 191 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 5,345 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In April, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.7%. The national unemployment rate was 3.4%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in March was 61.8%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.6%.
