EAST LIVERPOOL – The city of East Liverpool recently was awarded a $375,000 Clean Ohio Trail Fund grant to fund the second phase of construction for a trail that connects the downtown to the Ohio Greenway Trail.
The first phase of the project was previously funded and encompasses a trail from the Broadway Wharf on the Ohio River to Fifth and Walnut streets. The second phase will stretch the trail to the east end of the city.
According to city officials, another application for funding will be submitted for the third phase of the project, which will take the trail through East End neighborhoods, eventually reaching the Point of Beginning at the Pennsylvania state line.
