Ohio Unemployment Rate Unchanged from August
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.5% in September, unchanged from August, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Friday.
Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 13,500 over the month, from a revised 5,664,000 in August to 5,675,600 in September.
The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in September was 263,000, unchanged from August. The number of unemployed has increased by 56,000 in the past 12 months from 207,000. The September unemployment rate for Ohio has increased 0.9 percentage points from 3.6% in September 2023.
The U.S. unemployment rate for September 2024 was 4.1%, down from 4.2% in August 2024 and up from 3.8% in September 2023.
In September 2024, the labor force participation rate in Ohio was 62.4%, up from 62.3% in August 2024 and up from 61.9% in September 2023. During the same period, the national labor force participation rate was 62.7%, unchanged from 62.7% in August 2024 and down from 62.8% in September 2023.
