Aim Fuels Job Retention, Recruitment with Picnic

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — More than 125 people showed up at Aim Transportation Solutions’ headquarters at 1500 Trumbull Ave. for the company’s first annual Driver Appreciation Picnic Sept. 14.

Tom Reda, vice president of business development for Aim Integrated Logistics, addressed Aim company drivers: “Without you and the service you provide our customers, we would be nothing,” said

Aim invited all company drivers – plus any and all commercial truck drivers in the area – in celebration of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. In addition to food, prizes and family fun, the event was an opportunity for Aim to showcase its dedication to its employees and open the doors for potential drivers seeking work.

“On the grand scale, our country would be nothing without what the job drivers do each and every day,” Reda said. “We wanted to make sure the industry as a whole would be celebrated, and that is why the invitation went beyond our own family of drivers.”

Joetta Creps, Campbell’s Soup account manager with Aim, presents a Polaris Sportsman 450 ATV to Suzette Newman, a five-year driver.

The extended invitation paid off beyond simply showing appreciation for professional drivers, he said. Recruiters and driver managers were on-site to discuss employment opportunities Aim has to offer. As a result, according to event organizer Eleanor Arnold, six attendees are now potential Aim new hires.

The day topped off with an Aim-driver-only drawing for a Polaris Sportsman 450 ATV. Several of Aim’s executive staff, including owner Tom Fleming, co-president Scott Fleming, chief operating officer for Integrated Logistics, Dave Gurska, and Reda, gathered to draw and announce the winner, who turned out to be five-year employee Suzette Newman.

“We are very pleased with the turnout for the picnic,” Arnold said. “The drivers and their families made new friends, won great prizes and enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren have a fun-filled afternoon.”
