MVCAP Helps Students Find Their Career Paths

WARREN, Ohio – The Mahoning Valley College Access Program is dedicated to improving the educational, economic and workforce development footprint of Mahoning and Trumbull counties by providing career path options for high school students.

The nonprofit provides services, primarily within urban school districts, in three career pathways: college, post-secondary education in skilled trades and technical occupations, and military/community workforce.

MVCAP has helped nearly 10,000 students and their families in the form of one-on-one college advising, financial aid counseling and admissions assistance, according to Gerri Jenkins, executive director.

Services started in 2002. Today, in-school services are at Warren G. Harding, East and Chaney high schools and Youngstown Early College. Jenkins says a partnership with the Campbell City School District begins July 1.

MVCAP also awards scholarships to assist with tuition and expenses.
