Mycap Virtual Job Training Course Begins June 22

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – To help Mahoning County residents  who lost their job due to the coronavirus pandemic and related shutdowns, the Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership is offering a four-week virtual class on finding a new job.

The course, an adapted version of Mycap’s standard six-week class, begins June 22 and will feature skills training, resume writing, job application assistance, placement counseling and support services.

“The program approach seeks to eliminate barriers to employment on a case-by-case basis,” said Mycap’s employment skills and training manager Roger Beltz in a statement. “Students who complete the program, continue to receive case management support for an additional 12 months. In 2019, 80% of the students who completed the classes received job offers.”

To be eligible for the course, participants must be Mahoning County residents have income up to 125% of the federal poverty level. Information in income levels, which varies by household size, is available at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ website HERE.
