Ohio Society of CPAs Posts Videos on Tax Filing
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Society of Certified Professional Accountants is offering tips on filing tax returns on two new videos intended to help individual filers and business owners.
The videos explore deductions and credits that taxpayers might be unaware of, says OSCPA spokeswoman Jennifer Rieman. There is no charge to watch the videos.
The video for individuals covers rules for home office deductions, charitable contributions, and child and adoption credits. “There are many tax breaks available that the average person might not be aware of,” says Nicole Dulle, a CPA and co-host on the videos. “These tips offer a starting point.”
Dulle’s co-host, Scott Eichar, also a CPA as well as a certified financial planner, explains how some expenses related to a job search could qualify for a deduction.
“Resume services, employment and outplacement agency fees, postage, travel to and from interviews, long-distance calls to prospective employers and expenses related to accept a new job are tax deductible,” Eichar says. “Do your research about what is an is not allowed. Track your expenses carefully and hang on to your receipts.”
