Ohio Industries Rank in Top 10 Across Sector Lines
COLUMBUS, Ohio — In its 16th Annual Rankings Report, Business Facilities Magazine ranked Ohio in nine Top 10 rankings of states, including top-three rankings for automotive manufacturing strength, manufacturing employment and foreign direct investment capital.
High manufacturing rankings went to Toledo (No. 2 for mid-sized MSAs), Dayton (No. 3) and Akron (No. 7). Cincinnati ranked No. 7 as a top corporate headquarters location, according to a release from Gov. Mike DeWine.
“Ohio earned high rankings across sector lines in 2019, showing the diverse opportunity businesses can find here,” DeWine said. “In 2020, it is important for companies to invest with confidence, and Ohio has the infrastructure, people, and ingenuity to partner in companies’ future success.”
Among the states rankings, Ohio placed second for automotive manufacturing strength, and third for manufacturing employment and FDI capex.
Other rankings include:
- No. 6 for opportunity zones
- No. 7 for gross domestic product
- No. 7 for solar power jobs
- No. 9 for aerospace
- No. 9 for manufacturing output percentage
- No. 10 for tech jobs
The rankings reflect the value proposition Ohio provides for businesses, said J.P. Nauseef, president and CEO of JobsOhio.
“Ohio has a diverse mix of urban, suburban and rural communities filled with skilled, industrious talent and located within a day’s drive of 60 percent of the U.S. and Canadian populations,” Nauseef said. “We move forward with confidence that Ohio will continue to be a magnet for business investment and a location of choice for in-demand workforce talent.”
