Annual Truck-full of Hope Food Drive to Kick Off Friday
HERMITAGE, Pa. – The seventh annual Truck-full of Hope food drive will kick off at noon Friday at Diehl Chevrolet, 2705 E. State St.
The holiday food drive encourages Mercer County residents, organizations and businesses to bring nonperishable food items to the dealership’s showroom and help fill the truck through Dec. 15.
The food drive will accept all nonperishable food items (no glass containers). The most needed items include canned vegetables, canned meats, peanut butter, jelly, noodles, pasta sauce and cereal.
“We greatly appreciate the owners and employees of Diehl Chevrolet in Hermitage for hosting this annual event that helps fill plates of our neighbors facing hunger during the holiday season,” said Rebecca Page, executive director of Mercer County Food Bank.
Last year the food drive collected 2,287 pounds of food to benefit Mercer County families during the holiday season.
“So far this year, MCFB has distributed 2.6 million pounds of food, which is a 14% increase compared to last year, and we expect the lines for food assistance to continue to grow as we progress through the winter months,” Page said.
