Arms Museum to Offer Lecture, BOGO Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Jessica Trickett, manager of collections for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, will present “Seasonal Style: A History of Holiday Fashion,” at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Arms Family Museum Carriage House.

The lecture is included in the Memories of Christmas Past admission.

In addition, in celebration of the Historical Society’s 140th anniversary, an open house will be held Saturday at the Arms Family Museum. Guests will receive buy-one-get-one free admission courtesy of Home Savings Charitable Foundation.

Those attending the programwill hear about holiday fashions from 19th century party dresses to the 21st century Christmas sweater. Trickett also will discuss the progression of the Santa suit from the early St. Nick to the modern day Santa Claus.

The Memories of Christmas Past exhibit runs through Jan. 3.

Hours for the museum are Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m., and Thursdays noon to 7 p.m.  The museum is closed on Mondays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day.  Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens; and $5 for children ages 3-18 (under 3 free).
