NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Bruce & Merrilees, a large-scale electrical construction contractor based in New Castle, Pa., is gearing up for a busy 2024.
The company’s ongoing projects include installing the electrical infrastructure at Form Energy’s new battery factory in Weirton, W.Va. and a 100-mile fiber optic communication system for the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s new open road tolling system.
B&M is a design-build partner for both projects, which have a combined contract value of over $65 million.
The company, which celebrated 75 years in business in 2023, finished the year with zero recordable safety incidents, according to Justin L. Bruce, executive vice president.
This year, B&M will expand its footprint in emerging markets. These include electric-vehicle charging infrastructure, solar power, and grid energy storage. At the same time, Bruce says the company will maintain its footing in traditional markets such as heavy industry, power generation, institutional and transportation electrical construction.
Family-owned since its founding in 1948, Bruce & Merrilees employs over 350 full-time workers.
