Library Renovation Mixes New and Old

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County this month completed a two-year renovation, transforming it into a community cornerstone.

The renovation kept the historic charm of the 1910 building while adding a modern 6,000 square-foot space.

Additions include an event center, a culinary center and study spaces. The remodeled grand reading room reflects the original blueprints, including the Wick Avenue steps.

The family engagement space encourages play.
The art glass ceiling in the Parthenon frieze of the reading room was restored to full visibility.
Thirty-six new computers were added to the renovated computer lab.
Study spaces are available for group or solo use.
