COLUMBIANA, Ohio – The holiday shopping season has arrived, and store owners are hoping everyone will choose to shop local for their loved ones this year.
Supporting small businesses is especially important in a small town like Columbiana, says Brenda May, manager of the Local Artisans Loft.
“It’s always important to shop local and support small businesses to keep us running, we’re a small town,” she says.
May was one of several owners who participated in Christmas in Columbiana, Nov. 18 to 20. The city hosted Christmas-themed events and stores set special hours to encourage shopping.
Pewter Peddler co-owner Amanda Bowker says shopping local is more important than ever as inflation continues to cause financial strain.
“Even if you can’t spend the normal amount that you do, just those little bits are helping,” she says.
