Bacon Mac and Cheese Pizza Wins JA Challenge

NORTH LIMA, Ohio — The Bacon Bunch, a group of students from Heartland Christian School, have won the JA Innovation Challenge for their new pizza flavor, The Mac and Cheese Supreme pizza.

Held by Junior Achievement of the Mahoning Valley, in partnership with Pizza Joe’s, the 2022 Innovation Challenge tasked students with developing a new pizza flavor, then pitching the idea and marketing it to their peers.

In all 44 flavors were submitted by students from Cork Elementary School, Northeast Ohio Impact Academy, Heartland Christian School, Girard Intermediate Middle School, Daw Elementary School and Western Reserve Elementary School.

Pizza Joe’s will launch the winning flavor during an event at its North Lima location, June 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Proceeds from the event will benefit Heartland Christian School.

Second and third place were the Pizza Kids from Heartland and their Teriyummy pizza and The Doritos Amigos from Heartland and their Cool Ranch Clash pizza.
