BBB to Present Torch Awards June 13 at Lake Club

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Better Business Bureau serving Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull Counties will honor four businesses, a nonprofit and a community leader June 13 when it presents the 2019 Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust at the Lake Club in Poland.

The luncheon event, which begins at 11:30, celebrates BBB accredited businesses and leaders that exemplify BBB standards for trust, says Carol Potter, CEO.

The Torch Awards are made possible due to the support of the BBB TrustBuilders, a group of local banking institutions with long-term commitments to earn and keep the trust of the public, she notes.

BBB TrustBuilders include PNC Bank, Farmers National Bank, Huntington Bank, Home Savings Bank, and Chemical Bank.

Potter says these banks are TrustBuilders because they make the loans that help small businesses and individuals achieve economic success and financial security.

The 2019 Torch Awards business honorees are:

  • Bolt Construction, Inc.
  • Westside Tire & Service
  • Morris Financial Group
  • Komara Jewelers

The Torch Award for nonprofit excellence will be presented to The Youngstown Foundation. And the award for civic leadership will honor Sharon Meanor Letson, executive director of CityScape

The event will be hosted by Scott Schulick, recipient of the 2015 award for civic leadership. BBB will also be awarding five high school students with the Ethics & Integrity Scholarships sponsored by Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC and Farmers Trust Co.
