BBB to Present Torch Awards June 23

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Better Business Bureau this month will honor multiple local businesses and leaders for their roles in building trust across the Mahoning Valley.

BBB, serving Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties, will present the 2022 Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust during a luncheon June 23 at The Lake Club. The event celebrates BBB Accredited Businesses and community leaders that exemplify BBB standards for trust.

The Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust will be presented to Aim Transportation Solutions, Warren Harley-Davidson Sales Inc., Lewis Construction and Milsek Furniture Polish Inc.

The Torch Award for Nonprofit Excellence will be awarded to Compass Family and Community Services, and the Torch Award for Civic Leadership will be presented to Barb Ewing, CEO of the Youngstown Business Incubator.

The Torch Awards are made possible due to the support of the BBB TrustBuilders, a group of banking institutions in the Mahoning Valley with long-term commitments to earn and keep the public’s trust.

Dedicated to the growth and vitality of the Valley, these banks make the loans that help small businesses and individuals achieve economic success and financial security, says Melissa Ames, BBB president.

BBB TrustBuilders include Premier Bank, PNC Bank, Farmers National Bank and Huntington Bank. Each bank invests in trust-building and strengthens the community through civic involvement, volunteerism, financial education and sound operating principles, Ames says.

The Torch Awards luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. The event will be hosted by Scott Schulick, recipient of the 2015 Torch Award for Civic Leadership.

BBB will also be awarding five area high school students with the Ethics & Integrity Scholarships sponsored by Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC and Farmers Trust Company.
