Beeghly Family Leaves $1M Gift to Akron Children’s

BOARDMAN, Ohio — The annual tree lighting ceremony at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley last night sparkled more brightly this year with the announcement of a  major endowment gift from Bruce and Nancy Beeghly.  The legacy gift of $1 million will support future growth and expansion of the Beeghly campus here.

“When I look back at the nine years the hospital has been here, all the progress and the increased services and facilities added over that time … it’s very gratifying,” said Bruce Beeghly.

The Beeghly campus was built on land that formerly served as the childhood home of Bruce’s father, R. Thornton Beeghly. The family has supported Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley in numerous ways since it opened in 2008.

“We are grateful for the Beeghly family’s generosity, and humbled knowing that what was once their home is the home of the area’s only pediatric hospital,” said JoAnn Stock, senior director of development, Akron Children’s Hospital.

Added Grace Wakulchik, president of Akron Children’s Hospital. “This amazing endowment gift will ensure that generations of children and families will continue to receive the care they need.”
