Boardman Strongman to Compete in ‘Clash on the Coast’ Final
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Shawn Shumaker, owner of BSS Fitness and Training in Boardman, has advanced to Sunday’s final of Clash on the Coast strongman competition
The final will be broadcast Sunday on ESPN2 starting at 11 a.m. The contest was filmed in April.
Shumaker is a graduate of Youngstown State University and Boardman High School. He is one of 11 finalists competing with other athletes weighing less than 105 kilograms [231.485 pounds] in Hilton Head, S.C.
He finished fourth in qualifying among 32 other competitors.
Shumaker advanced to the final by competing in feats of strength such as keg toss, axle squat, car deadlift and many others.
“I’m extremely proud of my performance and pleased that I was able to go head-to-head with the world’s best strongman competitors,” he says.
