Brightside Project Gets $100K to Support Children in Columbiana County

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Brightside Project will receive $100,000 through an executive order signed by Gov. Mike DeWine to provide resources and social-emotional development support to eligible children in Columbiana County.

DeWine’s office announced Friday that the governor signed Executive Order 2024-07D, directing funding from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to initiatives that will assist struggling families, support children and encourage workforce development.

The Brightside Project, launched in 2016 by the father-daughter team of Scott Lewis and Lisa Vittorio, is a faith-based 501c3 nonprofit organization that reaches out directly to children through various programs.

Among the other agencies that will receive funding, up to $1 million will be used to assist Ohio Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs in providing support services to eligible youths at the following clubs: West Chester/Liberty, Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Massillon, Youngstown, Wooster, Central Ohio, Northeast Ohio, Toledo and Washington County.

Also, up to $1 million will be used to assist Ohio Suicide Prevention in providing suicide prevention resources and strategies to eligible families in Franklin, Butler, Clermont, Cuyahoga, Erie, Gallia, Greene, Hamilton, Hocking, Jackson, Licking, Lorain, Lucas, Mahoning, Marion, Meigs, Montgomery, Morgan, Stark, Summit, Washington and Wayne counties.

Throughout the state, up to $935,000 will be used to assist Operation Warm in providing new coats and shoes to eligible children, and up to $300,000 will be used to assist Ohio Association of Foodbanks in providing summertime food assistance to eligible children.
