Canfield Fairgrounds Dedicates Event Center

CANFIELD – The new event center at the Canfield Fairgrounds was formally opened in 2023 after completion of the $1.3 million third phase of construction.

Restrooms, a lobby and classrooms were added to the building in the third phase.

The $4.5 million multipurpose exposition facility is known as the Michael Kusulaba Fund of the Youngstown Foundation Event Center, in recognition of the fund’s financial support of the project.

The fair board auctioned 21 rooster statues at the 2023 fair. The statues had been artfully painted and were part of a fundraising effort.

The Mahoning County Agricultural Hall of Fame inducted its class of 2023 at the fair. The inductees were: Dorothy “Pearle” Hartley Burlingame, James Clay “JC” Hedge, Jesse and Roger Martig, Clifford A. Morrison, David C. Myers and Wade Wehr.
