Children’s Rehab Center Launches Digital Campaign

HOWLAND, Ohio – Northeastern Ohio Children’s Rehabilitation Center has launched its “Change a Life” 2020 fundraising campaign after a delay forced by the coronavirus pandemic. Donations can be made through the “donate” button on the nonprofit’s Facebook page.

The organization, which provides outpatient physical, speech and occupational therapies to children, traditionally relies on in-person fundraising such as the Reds, Whites & Brews annual event, said Executive Director Michael Crogan in a statement.

“Because the campaign was relying on person-to-person donation requests, we decided that it would not be prudent to proceed as planned,” he said, noting that canceling Reds, Whites & Brews was “a major financial blow.”

“The other shoe fell when we had to cancel our rehabilitation programs,” he continued.

Because Northeastern Ohio Children’s Rehabilitation Center is an independent nonprofit, it relies heavily on donations from individuals and area businesses. Support from foundations and the United Way also exists, but those streams have been strained in recent years, Crogan said.

“To counter this shortfall, the online fundraising campaign is designed to allow NEOCRC to continue providing and exceptional level of care to the children and families who desperately need therapy programs that empower children to achieve the highest quality of life possible,” he said.
