City Club to Hold Panel on Regenerative Development
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The City Club of the Mahoning Valley will hold a Views & Brews panel discussion June 10. “From Rust Belt to Green Belt: A Sustainable Future for the Mahoning Valley,” will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts downtown.
Scientists worldwide largely agree that global warming is occurring and that human activity is the cause, according to materials publicizing the event. According to a 2018 Yale University poll, 70% of Americans agree.
The June 10 panel will focus on moving beyond sustainability to regenerative development, a concept by which human needs at met by creating equitable and sustainable systems that restore the physical environment, and how it is being implemented across the country and in the Mahoning Valley.
Danielle Lewis of the geography department at Youngstown State University will moderate the panel. The featured speakers are Stephanie Dyer, environmental program manager, Eastgate Regional Council of Governments; Debora Flora, executive director, Mahoning County Land Bank; and Lisa Ramsey, deputy director, Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership.
