City Machine Technologies to Host Skilled Trades Day Event
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The need for workers in skilled trade jobs remains as imperative now as when City Machine Technologies Inc. established National Skilled Trades Day in 2019.
Celebrated annually on the first Wednesday in May, this year Skilled Trades Day will be celebrated locally at Penguin City Brewery with a family-friendly Cheers to Beers and Careers event from 4 to 7 p.m. May 3.
Adults can enjoy Penguin City brew and receive $1 off a beer if wearing a skilled trades work uniform. Boilermaker drinks will be on special.
Children attending can dress up in a skilled trades work uniform and trick-or-treat in the brewery. Hynes Industries will sponsor a costume contest. Fun kid-friendly drink specials will be available, and M-7 Technologies will sponsor a kids’ dance party to top off the night.
Additionally, CMT has created a new free, downloadable toolbox shape kit for kids to learn more about tools while playing with playdough. Parents can also download and discuss the My Future Career document with their child. These resources are available HERE.
The holiday was established to celebrate individuals employed as skilled trade workers and inform the community about the benefits of skilled trade jobs, as well as encourage those considering entering the trades.
“Now hiring signs are commonplace these days,” said Claudia Kovach, vice president of City Machine Technologies. “Everybody is looking for more help. We don’t think this will slow down anytime soon. Opportunities are plentiful for skilled trade jobs, but there is a shortage of workers. With our holiday, we are trying to bring awareness and celebrate those careers in skilled trades. With jobs like barbers, machinists, mechanics or HVAC techs, you don’t have to worry about jobs going overseas. These jobs are in-demand and can be found in your neighborhood.”
