Co-chairs Named for Tri-County American Heart Association Heart Ball
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – James and Christina Dascenzo will co-chair the American Heart Association’s 2024 Tri-County Heart Ball.
“James and Christina exemplify true leadership and are committed to the health and well-being of our community,” said Lisa Wheeler-Cooper, executive director of the American Heart Association, Northeast Ohio. “They understand the impact the mission and work of the American Heart Association can have on every person who lives in this area.”
The Dascenzos also spearheaded the Heart Ball campaign in 2022.
James Dascenzo is a principal with Hill, Barth & King LLC. He is the national director for the HBK Manufacturing Solutions Group and has been a longtime volunteer and supporter of the American Heart Association.
“I am eager to work together with our outstanding team of volunteers and the American Heart Association as we all advocate to make a difference in the well-being of people in this community,” James said. “My why is personal. My mother passed away from complications of a stroke last year, and I have lost several family members to heart disease. I am passionate about spreading awareness in our community on the dangers of cardiovascular disease.”
Christina Dascenzo is a pharmacist with Family Drug & Village Pharmacies. She is also a member of the board of directors for the American Heart Association, Northeast Ohio.
“I am honored to, once again, chair this meaningful event and look forward to a successful campaign.” Christina said. “My why is also personal. My brother Brian suffered a stroke at age 37 and died five years ago of a heart attack. I also suffered two pulmonary embolisms and was diagnosed with a genetic disease that puts me at an increased risk for developing blood clots. My mother is navigating moderate vascular dementia from long-term vascular disease. My goal for the campaign is to educate the community that undiagnosed cardiovascular conditions can lead to not only stroke and heart attack, but also have an irreversible effect on cognition and memory.”
The 2024 Tri-County Heart Ball will take place Oct. 17 at the Eastwood Event Centre. The annual event celebrates the association’s year-round efforts to drive health equity in the tri-county area. More information about the event is available HERE.
