Columbiana Rotary Gives 73 Coats to Local Schools
COLUMBIANA, Ohio – Columbiana Rotary Club delivered 73 coats to Joshua Dixon Elementary and Leetonia Schools as part of the Operation Warm Project.
Joining in the project again this year was Mitch McGuckin, realtor with Century 21 Lakeside Realty. McGuckin supplied matching hats and gloves to be paired with each coat.
Operation Warm began in 1998 with Dick Sanford of Kennett Square, Pa.
With the help of Sanford’s local rotary club 58 coats were distributed to children in need in his hometown. The first 58 coats were purchased by one man, but the millions of coats since then have been a result of communities united, working together to improve the livelihood of children living in poverty.
The Columbiana Rotary Club has participated in this annual project for the past seven years. Funding for this year’s project was provided by Firestone Farms.
