Community Foundation Awards $1.2M in Grants
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley and its supporting foundations have awarded $1.22 million in grants to 61 nonprofit organizations through its second-quarter grant cycle.
Through the CFMV General Grant opportunity, $247,000 was awarded, while the foundation’s three affiliated organizations – the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation, Western Reserve Health Foundation and William Swanston Charitable Fund – awarded $180,000, $218,500 and $88,000, respectively.
In addition to its regular quarterly grants, the Community Foundation also facilitated the distribution of $464,135 in grants from the Warren Community Impact Fund, established by the city of Warren to spend some of its funding from the American Rescue Plan. Through that process, the foundation accepted applications, which were then reviewed by a committee of nonprofit leaders serving Warren.
“On top of our usual grant opportunities, it was exciting to try something new with the city of Warren and help them disburse some of their ARPA dollars. We want to thank City Council and the mayor’s office for entrusting this process to us,” said Casey Krell, president of the Community Foundation. “This process wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the community leaders who took the lead on reviewing the applications that came in. We also want to extend them our deepest thanks for lending us their expertise.”
