Coviello Appointed to Ohio Turnpike Commission

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Gov. John Kasich has appointed Guy Coviello, vice president of government affairs for the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, to the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission for a term that ends June 30, 2023.

The commission has 10 members who oversee all matters pertaining to the 241-mile toll road in Ohio.

“The turnpike is one of the state’s most valuable assets, so it’s certainly a privilege to serve on the commission,” Coviello said.

Coviello joined the chamber staff in 2014. In his position, he advocates at federal, state and local levels for issues that are important to the Mahoning Valley business community and advises chamber members on government and legislative issues.

In 2016, he spearheaded the Victory for the Valley campaign that raised more than $300,000 to bring economic development site consultants to the Valley and obtained more than $1.5 million in earned media. The campaign won an award from the Mid-America Economic Development Council.

Coviello currently serves on the Tri-State Shale Coalition’s Transportation and Infrastructure Working Group, which was created through a memorandum of understanding between the governors of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The group is spearheading the effort to develop a $10 billion natural gas liquids storage hub that would lead to more than 100,000 new jobs in plastics and petrochemicals.

In 2017, he was named to the Campaign for America’s Energy Ohio Steering Committee, as well as a partner in the Ohio Chamber of Commerce Research Foundation project.
