CurrentSAFE Expands Its Dealership Network
NORTH LIMA – It all began in 2005 in a garage in North Lima. It was there that Kevin Dickey, a veteran in the electrical contracting industry and member of the Joe Dickey Electric family, began forming his yet-unnamed company.
The business model was unique in the electrical industry: providing proactive electrical-hazard detection services for the residential sector.
“Similar services have long been available to commercial and industrial businesses, but nobody tried to do the same for homeowners,” Dickey says.
His goal was to develop protocols for proprietary software and testing equipment that allowed contractors to analyze the electrical system in a house to detect hidden safety issues that could become fire hazards.
A few weeks into developing his business plan, Dickey dubbed the fledgling company CurrentSAFE. The system gave contractors the resources to analyze the electrical system in a house without tearing down its walls.
“It had to be a turnkey program for contractors,” he states. “Once we were ready to go, training the contractors in using the software and infrared equipment was the priority.” The training also includes sales techniques and the implementation of marketing programs.
From its launch, the company experienced sustained growth of its dealership network with electrical contractors from 12 states coming on board.
In 2019, the company expanded to include commercial and industrial electrical preventive maintenance, focusing on meeting requirements imposed by OSHA in particular, the National Fire Protection Association and the insurance industry.
Dickey’s vision for the future remains steadfast.
“During 2020, our 15th anniversary year, growing through aggressive sales and referrals is our focus,” he says.
In addition, he plans to add staff over the next 12 months at the headquarters in North Lima.
