Davis Family YMCA Kicks Off Health Kids Day

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Davis Family YMCA looks to keep kids healthy all summer long with its annual Healthy Kids Day.

The Davis YMCA is inviting families to participate in the event April 30 from noon to 2 p.m. at 45 McClurg Road. The free event features arts and crafts, farm animals from Camp Fitch, community vendors, pool games and gym activities to motivate and teach families how to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles, according to a release.

“At the Y, we believe in the potential of all children and each day we work to help kids find that potential within themselves,” said Tom Grantonic, Davis Family YMCA executive director. “Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community-wide event to kick off summer and remind us all how important it is for kids to stay active physically and mentally throughout the summer.”

Now in its 30th year, Healthy Kids Day seeks to keep kids moving and create healthy habits while they are out of school for the summer. The local YMCA promotes such habits, including eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables daily, reading together, physical activity and getting plenty of sleep.

The event is sponsored locally by T-Mobile, and nationally by Howard Johnson by Wyndham.
