Growth Report 2: DeSalvo Construction Begins 40th Year

HUBBARD – This December will mark 40 years of operation since DeSalvo Construction Co. was founded in the home of Joy and Joseph A. DeSalvo in 1984.

With steady growth, in 1990 the company moved to its headquarters in Hubbard. In 2000, a warehouse was built and in 2008, DeSalvo expanded and renovated the buildings.

The driving force behind the company’s success, says Joseph K. DeSalvo, president, is a culture rooted in continuous improvement and an environment that motivates, rewards and retains a dedicated team,

A notable development in 2023, he notes, was the renovation of the learning center and training room, which provides a collaborative space for bi-weekly project superintendent and safety meetings.

This initiative earned DeSalvo Construction the Joan Kovach Safety Leadership Award from The Mahoning Valley Safety Council.

The company is committed to giving back to the communities it serves, says DeSalvo.

Partnering with local organizations, recent campaigns with Inspiring Minds of Warren and United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley exceeded their $50,000 goal.

Projects in 2024 include:

• Farmers National Bank headquarters addition and renovations, Canfield.

• Shepherd of the Valley Howland, interior upgrades.

• Warren G. Harding High School Wellness Center.

• Red Bull warehouse, Boardman.

• Café 422 canopy repairs, Warren.

• Magnetic Analysis Corp. parking lot and interior renovations, Boardman.

 Projects last year included:

• Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates’ building in Boardman.

• Akron Children’s Hospital primary care center in Campbell.

• Millennial Moments, a primary care medical office for Salem Regional Medical Center in Canfield.

• Eastwood Shops Center in Niles.

• Bral Corp. new warehouse in Champion.

• Sapphire Aesthetics & Wellness center building in Boardman.

• Shepherd of the Valley’s dialysis center in Boardman.
