Diocese of Youngstown Announces Retirement of 2 Priests
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Diocese of Youngstown on Friday announced the retirement of two priests.
The Rev. Philip Rogers served the diocese for 44 years. He was most recently the pastor of Christ the Savior Parish in Struthers and the dean of Mahoning South Deanery. He previously served as pastor of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish in Boardman from 2007-2022. His retirement is effective July 1.
The Rev. Raymond Thomas served the diocese for 52 years. He was the pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Ashtabula, Corpus Christi Parish in Conneaut and Saint Andrew Bobola Parish in Sheffield. He was also pastoral care at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Geneva and dean of Ashtabula Deanery. His retirement was effective May 1.
The diocese recently ordained the Rev. Kevin Bertleff as administrator of the newly merged Saint John Neumann Parish, and the Rev. William Wainio as parochial vicar at Saint Patrick Parish and University Parish Newman Center in Kent.
