Direction Home Relocates with New Name

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — When the moving vans arrived May 20 at the Eastwood Mall, what was the Area Agency on Aging left behind a decade of offices in Trumbull County for a new name, Direction Home of Eastern Ohio, and new offices at 1030 N. Meridian Road here.

Although the services and the individuals providing services did not change, the move re-energized the agency that was founded in 1965.

“We are focusing our efforts in 2020 on ensuring that community members know that the name and location may have changed, but we are still your point of contact for answers on aging and disability services,” says CEO Joseph Rossi.

Direction Home of Eastern Ohio is an aging and disability resource network that assists individuals in Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties. The agency staff links those who need help to services and provides person-centered care plans that allow them to live independently in their homes.

“With the projected growth in our senior and disabled population, we will only continue to grow,” Rossi says.
Direction Home of Eastern Ohio employs 140 and is looking to expand into private contracts for care coordination, he reports.
