Fan Hits Shot to Win Burgan Mortgage Mania Challenge
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Better with Burgan Mortgage Mania Challenge had its first winner of the season Saturday night as Bill Cupler of Berlin Center hit a half-court shot at the Youngstown State men’s basketball game.
As a prize, Cupler took home a $12,000 check from Burgan Real Estate. A video of Cupler’s shot can be found here.
“We challenged our marketing agency, 898 Marketing, to create a promotion with us that would not only bring more attention to the YSU basketball program, but more importantly to give back to someone in the community,” said co-owner Patrick Burgan in a release. “With one shot, Bill Cupler won $12,000 from the Better With Burgan Mortgage Mania Challenge and was a part of one of the greatest memories YSU has ever done with a partner. We are thrilled for Bill, his family and happy to say that his life has become Better With Burgan.”
Cupler’s name was drawn randomly from a list of entries made on Burgan’s website.
“As the official real estate partner of YSU athletics, Burgan Real Estate feels it is our responsibility to do more than just have a presence at games or in advertising. We want to be a partner with the University to make our community and the experience fans have at YSU sporting events ‘Better with Burgan,’ ” said co-owner Sue Filipovich. “The Better with Burgan Mortgage Mania Challenge was the first promotion we’ve run for something like this and with the attention the university and Burgan Real Estate is getting, there will certainly will be more to follow.”
Cupler’s shot was the second attempt of the challenge this season. There will be three more YSU basketball games featuring the Burgan Mortgage Mania Challenge: Jan. 27, Feb. 3 and Feb. 17. Entrants must be 18 or older and live within 60 miles of Youngstown. They do not have to be Burgan clients.
“Burgan capitalized on their elements of being the official real estate partner of YSU athletics and incorporated a fantastic community-wide promotion that provided one of the best moments ever for a sponsor at Beeghly Center on Saturday night,” said associate director of athletics Rick Love. “We, at YSU, are certainly appreciative of his partnership and enjoyed the on-court reaction by the fans. We hope there are more winners with three more games to go!”
