Greater Youngstown Italian Fest Begins Friday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Italian Heritage Foundation of Youngstown is holding its 32nd Annual Greater Youngstown Italian Fest in Central Square downtown Aug. 4 through 6.

At the fest, the foundation will  present $1,000 scholarships to six Youngstown State University students: Maria LaRocca, Angela Rodino, Vincenzo Sferra, Stephanie Rivera, Hunter J. Flati and Richard Troisi Jr.

More than 40 Italian restaurants and food vendors will attend, as well as two dozen retail craft vendors.

The event will also include a Miss Italian Fest Pageant, Little King and Queen Pageant, grand raffle prizes, wine and beer making contest, pasta eating contest, Venetian tent raffle with over 100 gift baskets, fireworks, a Saturday polka mass and an outdoor Sunday mass. 

Entertainers for the event are scheduled on the following days:

  • Friday: John Gabriele, Rex Taneri, Radio Lark and Redline.
  • Saturday: Jim Frank Trio, The Ovations with Marc Pupino, Butch Nichols Band, Guys without Ties, Bustin Loose, The Cavaliers with Dan Pollice, polka mass with Jack Vasko, Del Sinchak and Angelo Babbaro.
  • Sunday: Rocky Monaco, Frank Gallo, The Houseband, Avanti Band, Angelo Babbaro and Dom Tocco.

There is a $5 entrance fee and the festival is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, and 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday.
