Greenwood Family Donates $50K to YBI

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Greenwood family has donated $50,000 to the Youngstown Business Incubator to enhance programming for startups and entrepreneurs.

“Every day, entrepreneurs come through our doors with a variety of needs,” said Barb Ewing, CEO of the incubator. “The Greenwoods support helps us meet those needs. We are so grateful for the leadership and generosity they have shown us.”

Greenwood recently visited the YBI campus to present his donation. He was greeted by Ewing, who gave him a tour of the campus, and other YBI officials, including Colleen Kelly, Luke Politsky and Megan Payich.

“Our family is so pleased to have played such a small role in supporting the great work that the YBI team is doing for our community in keeping hope and progress alive for our children, our forward thinking entrepreneurs and our city and region,” said Greg

Greenwood, president of Greenwood Chevrolet. “We were impressed with the work being done to expose more Youngstown City School children to the STEM community and true career opportunities for all.”

YBI is developing The Xperience, a program that will introduce students to different opportunities using augmented and virtual reality technologies in an effort to overcome the underrepresentation of minorities in the STEM disciplines.

The technology being introduced locally by Universe Central and YBI will allow users to remotely visit, take tours and travel abroad, and will expose them to a variety of mentors, industries and training opportunities.

“We were impressed by the strategic work being done to support more women and minority entrepreneurs in their strategic planning and community support to grow their companies,” Greenwood said after touring YBI’s campus.

“The progress, momentum and capabilities that YBI has been able to grow in perhaps their core constituency of 3D printing and additive manufacturing is incredible to see. Trust me the future is alive and well in Youngstown!”
