Grove City College Sponsors Indie Film Festival

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Independent filmmakers will have an opportunity to show their work at The Veritas Film Festival at the Guthrie Theatre downtown.

The festival runs from April 23 to 30 with screenings at the theater as well as on the campus of Grove City College. The seven-day event celebrates “truth and beauty through film,” according to event organizer Spencer T. Folmar, and is now accepting entries from any and all filmmakers.

“For filmmakers, it provides the opportunity to have their hard work shown to an audience hungry for stories with impact,” Folmar said in a release. “A lot of time and effort goes into making a script and we want to provide filmmakers the opportunity to present their work to an active audience. For the audience, we home to provide a film festival like few others.”

Along with the screenings, the festival features discussion, guest speakers and nightly awards determined by audience vote, a jury of film critics and filmmakers. Awards will be given for the best film in Feature Films, Student Films, Hard Faith, Made in Pa., Documentaries, Screenplays and Short Films.

Regular deadline to enter the festival is Jan. 1, 2020, with a late deadline on Feb. 1 and an extended deadline of March 1. Entrants will be notified of their acceptance by March 7.

Grove City College is sponsoring the festival with Olde Town Grove City, the borough’s downtown action association and Hard Faith Films, Folmar’s production company. Things kick off with an opening gala on April 23 at 6 p.m. at the Guthrie at 232 S. Broad St. Visit VertasArts.org for more information.
