Historical Markers to Be Unveiled Today

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Four new downtown historical markers will be unveiled at a 4 p.m. ribbon-cutting event sponsored by Youngstown CityScape and the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.

The markers will provide historical and architectural information about Youngstown’s Central Square and its cornerstone buildings.

“We are excited to join with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society in unveiling these markers to the public,” said Sharon Letson, executive director of Youngstown CityScape. “We recognize that our partnership with both the Historical Society and Ohio History Connection have been key to making these markers a reality in our downtown.”

The Ohio History Connection administers the historical marker program, which enables Ohioans to commemorate and celebrate local history and learn more about their state.

The ribbon-cutting event is hosted in conjunction with the MVHS/Ohio History Connection’s “Amazing History Race: Mahoning Valley” which begins at 5 p.m. at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center.
