History Society to Hold Oktoberfest Oct. 1

WARREN, Ohio — The Trumbull County Historical Society will hold its finaugural Oktoberfest Oct. 1 on the Square on Courthouse Square here. The event will feature German-inspired food, beverages, two musical acts, as well as traditional Oktoberfest competitions and games.

Among the activities on tap are grape stomping, polka instruction, a stein hoist and crowning of the King and Queen of Hops. Sign-ups for these events will be available at the reservation table upon arrival.

The event was started as a means of supporting the Trumbull County Historical Society’s annual programming and exhibit development, organizers said. The society, which hired its first paid staff this past year, has worked to bring the history of Trumbull County to the public in a broader and more engaging way. “We hope to showcase the diverse cultures in our region. This event is meant to celebrate the German heritage here in a fun, colorful way,” noted Meghan Reed, history society director.

The event will run from 6  to 11 p.m. Tickets are $30 and include all you can eat and two drinks. Additional drinks will be available for purchase. To order tickets, call 330 394 4653 or email director@trumbullcountyhistory.org.
