History Society Programs to Commemorate End of Civil War

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will commemorate the conclusion of the American Civil War 150 years ago with a series of programs at the Tyler History Center downtown.

The three programs, which will be presented by Traci Manning, MVHS’ curator of education, will highlight the local, national and international importance of the era and how each event still impacts contemporary society.

All the programs are free and adjacent free parking is available at the center. The three programs follow:

  • The War Within: Mary Todd Lincoln’s Triumph and Tragedy as First Lady, 7 p.m., March 24.
  • The Lincoln Assassination, 7 p.m., April 14.
  • Bites & Bits of History: April 1865, A Month That Changed America, noon, April 16.
