Home Savings Gives $12,500 to Dek Hockey Rink

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Home Savings recently donated a check for $12,500 to Mill Creek MetroParks to be used for the installation of fencing around the new Dek Hockey Rink.

Dek hockey is a variation of ice hockey in which the game is played using a ball, either outdoors on foot or with inline skates.

“Our program is modeled after several very successful Dek programs throughout greater Pittsburgh,” said Chris Litton, director of development for Mill Creek MetroParks. “We will reach our target audience by forming organized leagues and clinics at the rink. Mill Creek will utilize strategic alliances by working with local youth organizations.”

The Dek Hockey Rink is available for rental for league games, practices, birthday parties and other activities.

“We’re very pleased to be able to support Mill Creek MetroParks,” said Trish Gelsomino of Home Savings. “Mill Creek MetroParks continues to contribute to the educational and recreational life of the Mahoning Valley and we are thrilled to be a part of that.”
