Hynes Industries Celebrating 100th Year in Business

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – “Honoring our past – forming our future.”

Hynes Industries, a custom fabrication and roll form metal solutions manufacturer, is marking the beginning of its 100th year in business with an enhanced emphasis on investment and growth.

The Youngstown-based company employs more than 200 people across three Midwest locations. It is a recognized industry leading manufacturer serving diverse end markets, including automated material handling, truck trailer, solar and general industrial.

In October 2023, Hynes partnered with private equity firm Crossplane Capital to accelerate its transformational growth strategy involving investments in capacity expansion and new capabilities.

“At 100 years old, we’ve got the energy and tenacity of a startup, but the wisdom and experience of an established player in our industry,” said Rick Organ, Hynes CEO. “We’re poised to make smart investments that deliver more value to our customers and serve as a foundation to significantly grow our business.”

Among these investments is the recent purchase of an advanced capability in-line weld mill. It represents the largest single investment made in the company’s history. With the new capability, Hynes is able to create shapes to be welded in-line to form a closed section, bringing added strength to the part. By incorporating machining, laser welding and embossing in the design of the equipment, the mill will also eliminate the need for products to be sent to costly secondary operations.

“Deepening our relationships with existing customers who’ve already come to know and trust our capabilities is important to us,” Organ said. “Here, we’re adding value by broadening our capabilities, narrowing our scope of work and taking steps to reduce time and cost.”

Hynes has laid out a year-long plan for celebrating its centennial anniversary, including the design of a special 100th anniversary logo, employee and customer recognition events, community service projects and the construction of a lobby display honoring the company’s history.

“There are not many businesses that make it to the 100-year mark, so this milestone is a testament to our culture of absolute reliability, our long-standing commitment to deliver added value to our customers, our recognition of our employees as our greatest asset, and our future-focused mindset,” Organ said.

Hynes was founded as Hynes Steel Products in 1925 in Youngstown. The company expanded into Kokomo, Ind., in 2006 and acquired American Roll Formed Products of Painesville, Ohio, in 2015. That same year, Hynes consolidated its corporate headquarters in Youngstown.
