Jewish Family & Community Services Receives $50K Grant

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Jewish Family & Community Services was recently awarded $50,000 by Direction Home of Eastern Ohio to assist Mahoning County residents age 60 and older with technology.

JFCS will use the grant to purchase technology such as tablets and other devices to help decrease isolation and increase mental health in older adults and to assist them with learning to use the devices efficiently.

Among other programs, JFCS, in collaboration with the JCC of Youngstown, offers Tech Tuesday, a class that teaches the basics of technology at a slower pace of learning, and includes tips and settings for smartphones or tablets and online tools such as Gmail or Google Maps.
