JFK Baseball Advances to Final Four; Other Championships Conclude

COLUMBUS, Ohio — John F. Kennedy High School’s baseball team advanced to the state baseball tournament at Canal Park in Akron — home of the Cleveland Indians’ AA affiliate Akron Rubber Ducks.

The Eagles face Fort Loramire at 1 p.m., Friday in a Division IV state semifinal. The winner of that game takes on the Lucasville Valley-Van Wert Lincolnview winner in Saturday’s final starting at 4 p.m. More state tournament information can be found HERE.

On Sunday, South Range High School’s softball team lost to Sherwood Fairview in a Division III final at Firestone Stadium in Akron, 10-0. South Range ended the season with the state runner-up trophy and a 30-4 record. Complete coverage of the tournament is HERE.

Over the weekend in state track and field, McDonald’s boys finished as state runner-up to Minster in Division III, 41-39.

Individual state champions in Division III were Valley Christian’s Tyrone Lindsey, Phillip Spradley, Kwane Austin and Brandon Paige in the boys 4×100-meter relay with a time of 42.86 seconds. Maplewood’s Caleigh Richards won the girls 3200 in 11:07.23, while McDonald’s Ryan Henry took the boys discus title with a throw of 170 feet, 2 inches. In Division II, Niles McKinley’s Chante Clinkscale captured the girls 100 and 200 state titles in times of 11.86 and 24.30 seconds, respectively. Complete results of the Division II state track and field meet can be found HERE.
