Junior Achievement Offers Entrepreneurship Workshop to Students

GIRARD, Ohio – Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio (JAEO) will present a workshop to introduce local youth to the stages of starting a small business.

The free, experimental workshop will take place in the Eastwood Mall community room from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24.

The “Start My Business” workshop is intended for students between ages 8 and 14, but all ages are welcome to attend, according to a press release from JAEO.

“Starting a business can be a fun way to encourage creativity and confidence in a child while developing practical skills like organization, money management, problem-solving, and communication,” said Michele Merkel, JAEO president.

Within the workshop, a Junior Achievement staff member will guide students on topics such as market research, budgeting, advertising and creating a business plan. All enrolled students will also receive a free youth entrepreneur workbook.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, from noon-3 p.m., Eastwood Mall will host Family Fun Day: Youth Market Day, where select participants of the workshop will sell their service or product.

The workshop, workbooks and Youth Market Day will all be free, courtesy of the grant provided by the Cafaro Foundation and the Burton D. Morgan Foundation.

To request a workbook or register for the events, call the Junior Achievement office at 330 539-5268 or email [email protected].
