Kolenich Named Examiner for Malcolm Baldrige Award
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Brian Kolenich, executive director of Park Vista of Youngstown, has been named to the 2016 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners.
The appointment by director of the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology positions Kolenich as one of the examiners responsible for evaluating applications submitted for the Baldrige award, the nation’s highest honor for organizational innovation and performance excellence.
The examiner board is composed of more than 350 lexperts competitively selected from industry, professional, trade, education, health care and nonprofit (including government) organizations. All board members must take part in a leadership development course based on the Baldrige criteria for performance excellence and the scoring processes for the Baldrige Award.
Kolenich has served the Baldrige Board of Examiners as an Alumni Examiner since 2012. In addition, he served as an Examiner and then Senior Examiner from 2003 through 2008.
Named after Malcolm Baldrige, the 26th secretary of Commerce, the award was established by Congress in 1987. Awards may be given annually to organizations in each of six categories: manufacturing, service, small business, education, health care and nonprofit.
